Precautions
In the pages below various techniques are described for cleaning, preserving, restoring and refurbishing antique firearms. These techniques require toxic and/or aggressive chemicals, sharp tools etc. so below maybe some superfluous precautions:
- Keep children out of your workplace at any time
- Keep your workplace clean and orderly
- Work in a well ventilated area or work outdoors
- Do not eat, drink or smoke in your workplace
- Use respirators
- Use hearing protection
- Wear eye protection
- Wear protective gloves
- Beware of open fire when brazing, welding, blueing etc. in combination with spilled gunpowder or solvent vapors
- Always consult a qualified gunsmith before firing antique firearms
